Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Review

Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Review

Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Review - When Ford introduced a new family looks at the Fiesta, it was to some degree frustrating that it does not get any speed to go with obscene nose. In fact, it loses a little of the spirit that goes with a big old 1.6-liter engine. But China's new tax legislation means that it makes more sense to Ford's business globalization newer, smaller 1.5-liter engine for this version of the best-selling small car.

(Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Review )

For those of us who feel that even 1.6 is not strong enough to actually fit the Fiesta great taking care of, there is stand out approach to go: littler. Welcome the 1.0-liter subcompact. Precisely, 1.0-liter turbocharged hatchback. Sounds crazy? Well, it's this kind.

STYLING

( Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Styling )

You would expect this revolutionary car will sport some special kit versus regular Fiesta, but did not. There is no bespoke bodykit or flashy hood scoop to mark this scorching turbocharged. The main outside indications of force turbo EcoBoost  badge is smooth and intercooler where the AC condenser typically go. A valet, not the soul, asking what the heck it under the hood after he was driven out of the parking area. The EcoBoost is one of those autos that talk softly and carry a big stick honking.

INTERIOR

( Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Interior)

Interior, disappointing, indistinguishable to the 1.5 Sport. Disgrace, support extra gauges or measuring the temperature would be nice. That said, multi-pattern bucket seats cloth-and-leather hold you tight when you glide through corners, and the quality of the interior is still unbeatable. We hope Ford will work a little more space to the back seats, or possibly introduce a snatch handle for the rear passengers. With this car agile, they will need it.

ENGINE PERFORMANCE

( Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Engine)

The 1.0 EcoBoost packed next-generation technologies, such as direct injection and variable-geometry turbocharging. Surprisingly, though, it's also a bit old-school. Iron engine block is used because it is strong and eliminates the need for cylinder liners. Also no balancer shaft to extinguish the inherent lumpiness of the three-cylinder motors. Instead, crank pulley and flywheel has a slightly eccentric balance against vibration. And it works. The 1.0 idles like a big four-cylinder when it is warm.

It runs like a top four, too, with plenty of of torque and revs. Although the dual-clutch transmission remainsnot smooth traffic, the additional torque at low rpm tends to smooth out the lumpiness low-speed shift.

If there is criticism here, the throttle response is not as crisp as in 1.5, turbo lag is seen in the first two gears, and there is too much throttle-over-run as you take off, which means that you'll stab the brakes at stop a little more than you are used to traffic. But it is an amazing tool to leave the place quickly. It's a bit soft off line, but feels awesomely athletic at three-digit speeds.

Fuel economy is about 1 km / L is better than 1.5 in traffic, and about 1.5 km / L is better than 1.6. On the highway, 20km / L is easier to hit than at other Fiesta, with nothing but the foot stable. Given this bike has only 800 + km on the clock at the start of our testing, we expect that to increase further as time passes.

RIDE AND HANDLING

( Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Ride & Handling)

Constriction and sound insulation is still top of the class. Like handling. Only Suzuki Swift and Mazda 2 can match the Fiesta for tactile agility in this class, and none of them have rock-solid chassis Fiesta has. Or power. EcoBoost is a welcome injection of adrenaline, but the Fiesta still feels like it can take more power.

On the downside, PowerShift transmission delays gear engagement to prevent damage when you punch out of the corners. And "S" suspension trim is still on the hard side comfortably. That said, some small cars feel as embedded into your nerves as Fiesta down the mountain road which is good.

EXTRA FEATURES

( Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Extra Features)

While EcoBoost is laid out with the same kit as 1.5, only cost P30,000 more. You get leather seats-and-fabric upholstered the same, push-button start, and a kick-ass sound system. Perhaps, stripped down to Trend spec and comes with a manual, EcoBoost can come in under P800,000, but we are not holding our breath for that one.

THE DECISION

See, Turbo Fiesta is not just about saving gasoline. Instead, it is a halo car for the entire Fiesta range, and a huge boost to the ego of the owner. Having a car is the most advanced and powerful in the class will do that. True, Accent hatchback probably has more power, but the four-speed automatic PowerShift not suitable for walking on the highway.

Of course, EcoBoost only sharpens our appetite for things that are bigger and better than Ford. The extra power is almost tickling the car's limits. If the Fiesta is good with EcoBoost, we wonder how good it would be in the 197hp ST spec. Maybe Ford Philippines is willing to show us?
